In this video, we investigate the question of whether PEEK, a specialized engineering plastic, expires or degrades over time. To address this concern, we conducted a comprehensive study on material storage. PEEK samples were placed in a controlled environment with constant temperature and humidity to simulate real-world storage conditions. An accelerated aging test was performed following ASTM F1980-16 standards, which lasted for 322.6 days, equivalent to simulating 10 years of natural storage. After the aging process, the samples were tested for their performance properties. The results revealed minimal color change and stable tensile and flexural strength, demonstrating that PEEK can maintain its integrity and performance for at least 10 years. Currently, we are extending our study to natural conditions to test PEEK’s durability for 15 and 20 years, further exploring its long-term storage potential and durability.
