Φ410mm Pure PEEK Continuously Extruded Rod

Major Technological Breakthrough Recently, Junhua Extrusion achieved a landmark technological breakthrough. After multiple rounds of experimental testing, the company’s R&D team successfully developed an ultra-large spec pure PEEK rod with a nominal diameter of Φ410mm (measured at Φ418mm). This sets a new global record for the largest diameter pure PEEK rod produced via a continuous extrusion process.

Addressing Industry Challenges The continuous extrusion of ultra-large diameter pure PEEK is recognized as a world-class process engineering challenge in the polymer profile industry.

PEEK exhibits extremely high melt viscosity and a very narrow processing window. During the cooling phase of large cross-section products, severe internal-to-external temperature gradients occur, making the material highly prone to fatal quality defects such as internal shrinkage cavities, radial cracking, excessive residual stress, and non-uniform crystallization.

Currently, the standard upper limit for mass-produced, continuously extruded PEEK rods globally is only Φ300mm. As a result, the industry has long relied on compression molding processes for ultra-large PEEK products.

Differentiated Competition to Explore New Markets During the initial trial extrusion, the technical team faced significant molding challenges due to the extreme complexity of the development. Through precise troubleshooting, the team fully iterated and optimized the entire process, ultimately achieving a successful extrusion.

Compared to traditional compression-molded blanks, continuous extrusion enables:

Looking Ahead Moving forward, Junhua Extrusion will continue to cultivate ultra-large spec specialty polymer materials and break through technological barriers in the industry. Leveraging advanced R&D capabilities and processing technology, Junhua aims to provide customers with higher quality, cost-effective PEEK products and superior material solutions—driving PEEK applications into a broader and brighter future.
