Gear transmission, a precise, efficient, safe, and reliable method of power transmission, has widespread applications across various fields. Its working principle mainly relies on the teeth on the rim, transmitting motion through continuous meshing between two gears. This continuous operation characteristic demands that gear materials possess sufficient strength and hardness, while the surface needs to be smooth to reduce friction and wear. Although metal materials are widely used due to their hardness and strength, PEEK gear materials are gaining attention for their excellent wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and self-lubricating properties as technology advances.

In modern industries, gears play a crucial role. Whether in transmission systems, steering systems, or fluid conveyance systems, the performance of gears directly affects the efficiency, stability, and durability of the entire system. However, traditional metal gears face issues such as high processing error, high cost, installation difficulties, and long manufacturing cycles, along with significant friction noise and susceptibility to damage during daily use. Therefore, finding high-performance gear materials has become a major trend in various industries.

PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) is a high-performance engineering plastic with many advantages that traditional metal materials cannot match. PEEK materials exhibit excellent wear resistance and lightweight characteristics, resulting in minimal wear during long-term use and significantly reducing maintenance costs. Additionally, PEEK gears are self-lubricating, eliminating the need for additional lubricants, simplifying maintenance, and enhancing system reliability.

Due to its superior performance, PEEK material is attracting increasing attention. Compared to traditional metal materials, PEEK gears offer the following significant advantages:

High Wear Resistance

PEEK stands out in gear applications with its excellent high wear resistance, exhibiting outstanding self-lubricating properties and maintaining a low wear rate in various environments. Even under harsh conditions of up to 260MPa, PEEK retains its sliding and rolling wear resistance, ensuring long-term stability and reliability.

To further meet the stringent requirements of high-speed, high-load components, Junhua Corporation has meticulously introduced PEEK5600SWR particles and products, offering a wear resistance half that of PEEK5600CF30. This provides a more durable and less prone to breakage solution for high-load components, ensuring long-term efficient operation of equipment.

High Strength

PEEK material stands out with its exceptional strength characteristics, significantly surpassing POM in performance metrics. Even in high-temperature environments, PEEK maintains excellent mechanical properties. Carbon fiber-reinforced PEEK5600CF30 achieves a tensile strength of 230MPa, twice that of pure PEEK.

Building on this foundation, PEEK5600CF30-GQ high-strength particles and products have been developed, inheriting the original advantages of PEEK5600CF30, such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance, with a tensile strength reaching 260MPa, a 15% improvement over PEEK5600CF30. This makes it an ideal choice for high-stress components such as magnetic pump isolation sleeves.

Self-Lubricating Properties

PEEK materials, with their excellent self-lubricating properties, significantly reduce friction and wear, thereby minimizing unnecessary energy loss and noise pollution. This effectively extends the lifespan of gears and other transmission components and greatly reduces subsequent maintenance costs. PEEK gears form a stable transfer film upon friction with counter gears, maintaining this stability even during the adaptation and stabilization process, ensuring a smooth friction coefficient and extremely low wear rate.

Furthermore, PEEK gears significantly reduce potential lubricant contamination of products. Compared to traditional metal gears, they operate more quietly and last longer, providing strong support for the stable operation of various mechanical systems.

Corrosion Resistance

PEEK demonstrates exceptional chemical stability, resisting a wide range of organic solvents, oils, weak acids, and weak bases. Apart from concentrated sulfuric acid, PEEK is almost insoluble in any other acid, base, or organic solvent. Its corrosion resistance is comparable to nickel steel.

Additionally, PEEK exhibits extremely low water absorption, with a saturation water absorption rate of only 0.5% at 23°C. This characteristic ensures its stability and reliability in humid environments. Its excellent resistance to hot water is even more remarkable, maintaining its superior performance even in pressurized hot water or steam environments up to 260°C, fully showcasing its unique advantages as a special engineering material.

Lightweight

PEEK material stands out with its ultra-low density (only 1.3), significantly lighter than traditional commonly used metal materials. Gears made from PEEK material achieve significant weight reduction compared to metal gears. This lightweight advantage not only helps reduce the overall load and inertia of the equipment but also directly reduces rotational inertia, thereby improving the torque-to-weight ratio and torque inertia ratio. This results in better response speed, power transmission efficiency, and overall energy consumption control.

Besides the above-mentioned superior characteristics, PEEK material also ensures the stability and reliability of PEEK gear components under extreme working conditions with its excellent high-temperature resistance, outstanding strength, and reliable flame resistance, significantly extending their service life. Therefore, PEEK materials are widely used in numerous industries, becoming an indispensable key material for improving equipment performance and ensuring operational safety.

With industrial upgrades and the advancement of domestic substitution, China's PEEK gear market is continuously growing, posing higher requirements for materials to reduce costs, enhance performance and efficiency, reduce weight, and achieve miniaturization. The emergence of PEEK material is an ideal solution to these challenges, meeting future system performance demands and bringing new possibilities for the development of gear transmission technology.
